Students who struggle in reading, writing or math are at greater risk for summer learning loss. As parents, we know that!
The constant negotiation to get them to read, write or do a few math problems saps everyone’s energy and makes for an unpleasant summer. Let Springer School and Center help you!
In the Adventures in Summer Learning programs, students from the Tri-State area learn strategies that can be applied during the school year. Students come from public and private academic settings. They all share the experience of struggling with some aspect of the curriculum and a lack of confidence in themselves as learners.
During the 4-week morning program, students entering grades 1 through 6 are provided strategic instruction in language arts, math, writing and group problem solving. Parents attend a final conference and receive a brief written report including useful strategies and recommendations that can be shared with their school.
The morning program runs from 8:30 to 12:30, June 17 to July 12, 2019. A diagnosis of Learning Disability is not required to attend. Students who are successful in the program are of average to above average potential, but are not making expected progress in school.
Fun with Friends, for students entering grades 1 through 6, is a 4-week camp-like afternoon experience for students who need a longer day. Also in the afternoon, students entering grades 6 through 8 can join a 2-week Math class or a 2-week class in Improving Writing Skills.
