The Empowered Learner Conference: 
Shaping Success Through Mindset

Every classroom includes a diversity of learners. Beyond typical learning needs, some learners struggle with attention deficits, executive functioning issues or other specific learning challenges, creating a range of needs in a learning environment.

The Empowered Learner Conference gives attendees an opportunity to hear from expert speakers and discover proven strategies and tools that will support students and inspire you to leave a stronger advocate for young learners in all settings.

In its inaugural year, The Empowered Learner Conference will focus on mindset:

    • Keynote Speaker Jared Cooney Horvath will discuss the potential, complexity and power of mindset in a learning setting.
    • Keynote Speaker Donnie Campbell will speak to his own success encouraging young people to reach their potential.
    • Breakout Sessions on mindset, as well as other topics related to learning, will maximize attendees’ experience.
    • Lunch (provided) will give participants the chance to discuss and share ideas from the conference and the classroom.

The Empowered Learner Conference will be held in person on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Springer School and Center's Hyde Park campus.

Morning Keynote by Jared Cooney Horvath, Ph.D.

Jared Cooney Horvath, Ph.D.

Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath is an award-winning cognitive neuroscientist, best-selling author and renowned keynote speaker with an expertise in human learning, memory, and brain stimulation.

Dr. Horvath has published 6 books, over 50 research articles, and currently serves as an honorary researcher at the University of Melbourne and St. Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne.

His research has been featured in popular publications including The New York Times, WIRED, BBC, The Economist, TEDx, PBS's Nova and ABC’s Catalyst.

 
 

Afternoon Keynote by Donnie Campbell

In his powerful leadership keynote, Coach Donnie Campbell, the real-life inspiration for Ted Lasso, inspires audiences to discover their "MVP" - their mission, values, and principles to inspire individuals to reach their potential and teams to reach new heights.

Coach Donnie Campbell is a math teacher and a high school basketball coach from Kansas who was plucked out of obscurity when Jason Sudeikis, the American actor and star of the 5-time Emmy Award winning show, revealed to Stephen Colbert on the late show that Campbell was in part the impetus for the lead character he plays with such wit and wisdom. It was back in the late 1990’s when Jason played basketball at Shawnee Mission West and Donnie was his coach. Little did Campbell know that all of the pearls of wisdom he was dropping on Jason and the team would appear years later and make an indelible impression on millions around the world.

Conference Mission: Springer Learning Center is dedicated to empowering educators and other adults to make positive impacts on students’ lives in school, at home, and in the community to help them become empowered learners.

Value: Professional development from qualified providers enhances knowledge and skills, equipping adults to effectively support students, including those with diverse learning needs. Springer is proud to offer a network and venue to deliver exceptional learning opportunities to the region.

This annual conference brings educators, leaders, researchers, and clinicians together to learn from and inspire one another resulting, in a positive impact on diverse learners in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in everyday life events. 

Share your knowledge, help teachers, inform special educators, and teach families how to advocate for their child. These are just a few reasons to present this February!

 

Before you submit, please know:

    • Presenters are not compensated for their presentation.
    • All presenters must disclose any conflicts of interest, financial or nonfinancial.
    • Presenters must attend the conference and present live from Springer, 2121 Madison Rd, Cincinnati, OH.

    • ADHD
    • Executive functioning
    • Learning disabilities in the areas of math, writing, and/or reading
    • Current practices that are successful
