Proficient Readers are the Minority – Teachers are trying to change that!
February 24, 2023ADHD in Girls: Is it Different?
March 10, 2023We know from published data (NAEP scores) that students struggled to make progress in reading and math during the 22-23 school year.
Knowing this, parents often use summer as an opportunity to keep skills fresh or to catch up before the fall. Springer’s structured academic summer program can be of great value to both of these goals. Adventures in Summer Learning is back for its 31st Summer!
Catching Up, Staying Sharp & Having Fun!
This summer Springer School and Center will offer Reading and Math course work for students in grades 1 through 5. The Wilson Reading System® will be included again this summer. This program is recognized as a “Structured Literacy” program based on the Science of Reading under Ohio’s Dyslexia Law. Students may also participate in mini camps in STEM, Pottery, Lego among other options. Students may also participate in the “Art of Friendship Making”. Groups are designed for grades 1 through 3, or students in grades 4 and 5.
Sixth through eighth grade students may enroll in math, writing skills, study skills or a group exploring the art of making friends. Students in grades 9 through 11 have options such as Study Skills, Writing for High School and Writing for the Common App (grades 11 and 12).
Who can benefit?
We look forward to greeting students from the tristate who have struggled in some aspect of school, or those who simply need to solidify gains made this school year.
- The program provides a welcoming, safe environment for the struggling student.
- Our teachers are specialists in educating diverse learners while making learning fun.
- Students entering grades 1 through 11 will develop an understanding of themselves as learners and increase their confidence as they experience carefully researched direct instruction in the areas of reading, math and written expression.
Empowering for parents, too!
Time is set aside for parents to meet with the teaching team and receive a brief written report of their student’s accomplishments with suggestions for strategies and supports that will be helpful during the upcoming academic year.
Parents of previous Adventures’ campers expressed delight at their child’s increased confidence as a learner in addition to surprise at their student’s willingness to come every day, even though it is summer!!
We look forward to welcoming you and your student(s) to our exceptional “Adventures in Summer Learning”. Let us help you and your child understand their unique strengths and needs as a learner. Learn More or Apply Now!
