If you follow Springer School and Center in any form; whether through social media, blog posts, or other various avenues of communication; then you most likely have noticed the excitement surrounding our upcoming guest in our National Speaker Series this school year, Jessica McCabe. I recently had the pleasure of having a phone conversation with Jessica and my first impression was she is just as down to earth and relatable as she appears on her YouTube channel.
You may ask what makes Jessica so special? What is all the excitement about? In the course of our conversation, Jessica briefly touched on why she is so passionate about the topic of ADHD, and specifically why she feels compelled to have a positive impact in the lives of both children and adults with ADHD. One particular statement Jessica made during our conversation was that “we are given a toolbox of strategies, but don’t always know how or when to effectively use them.” This can be especially true when children have a great grasp on their toolbox, but as they grow, that toolbox may not be as effective in the everyday role of living an adult life. Such a powerful statement in a tiny sentence, one that Jessica understands all too well from a personal perspective.
