June is a wonderful month at Springer!
Dozens of bright students are on campus for Adventures in Summer Learning. They are gaining critical learning tools, making new friends, and having fun.
Through the Center, we’re connecting with professionals nationwide as we facilitate online Wilson® professional training courses. We couldn’t be more proud to help equip these teachers to implement instruction based on the science of reading in their schools.
Springer has utilized structured literacy instruction for many years, and in 2019 adopted the Wilson Reading System® for grades 1-8.
Reading Specialist and Licensed Wilson Certified Dyslexia Therapist Cari Kelly describes the impact of effective reading instruction, as she has witnessed in students.
“Children’s self-esteem begins to blossom, and their willingness to want to read drastically changes. When children begin to break the code and match sounds to letters and then begin to sound out words – children begin to gain meaning from their reading!”
When dyslexia is addressed effectively, “It can be a game changer.” Director of Enrollment and Growth Carmen Mendoza, M.Ed. has observed.
“Self-confidence improves, their metalinguistics of language improves, often these students become their own self-advocates, and their social and home lives improve.”
To the families making sacrifices to give their children the very best education, and to the educators working to deliver it, we are honored to be on this journey with you!
