Jonathan Mooney Talks to Springer Community
October 20, 2020What a Learning Disability Feels Like, Part 1
November 3, 2020Meet Angela
Current Springer parent Angela shares her advice for other parents on the tough decision to move mid-year to Springer. She states, “Either you are going to invest now or six months later. It truly is an investment. It is an investment in your child’s future. Timing is everything. Get your kid on the road to recovery now.”
Angela and I came together to discuss her son, Brycen, and his move to Springer last January, 2020. While most families think that a move in the middle of the school year will be very hard on a child, Angela and Brycen think differently.
Angela went on to explain that while she is originally from Cincinnati, they had lived in Atlanta for many years before returning to Cincinnati. Even though she had grown up in Cincinnati, she had never heard of Springer. She “googled” for a school for students with learning disabilities….and up popped Springer. “I didn’t know you guys were around, but I’m glad I do now!”
When asked if Springer is really worth it, Angela said, “You know what? Springer is definitely worth the peace of mind and definitely worth that completeness you can feel in your heart as a parent that your kid is at the right place.” She has never looked back - no regrets.
Meet Brycen
Brycen said, “If another school isn’t giving you what you need, what is the point of staying?” He went on to share that he feels that the teachers at Springer are very skilled at knowing when students need help. He feels calmer at Springer and doesn’t worry about the environment; he can focus on his learning. He also stated that the students all know that everyone is at Springer because learning is hard for them, and they wouldn’t be here otherwise and that creates a bond among them.
Meet Springer
Located in Cincinnati, Springer School and Center serves students in grades 1-8 who have a learning disability. Since 1971, Springer has been committed to serving students with significant struggles in reading, mathematics, and writing. We recognize that many students diagnosed with a learning disability also struggle with organization and attention, and we provide the tools to succeed in these areas too. Our academic program has been developed to address the needs of these students in order to best position them for a successful future. We love hearing from our alumni about their successes.
Please consider Angela and Brycen’s statements. Maybe you should check out Springer; your child’s future may depend upon it. Here is a link to our admissions page.
