2015

Natalie Sparling '15 is a sophomore at Holy Cross High School. She is enjoying Holy Cross, where she made honor roll as a freshman, and finished with a 3.5 GPA. She has enjoyed playing varsity softball. "I miss my friends and teachers at Springer. The strategies that I learned have been very helpful this year and last year."  (11-27-16)

Ashley Suttner '15 had a successful freshman year at Badin High School. She ended the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.9. She was selected as the Freshman, student of the Month for December due to her leadership, persistence and positive attitude! She played on the Freshman VB team and was also selected as an Ambassador for BHS. This summer she was chosen to be a teen volunteer at West Chester Hospital/ UC. She will return the next two summers to experience different areas in the medical/ health care field. She certainly misses all of the awesome teachers and staff members at Springer, as well as her friends. However, she has certainly made the most of her first year post graduation. This summer she's taken tennis lessons and plans to represent BHS on the JV tennis team this fall and as an Ambassador again.  (7-30-16)

brad becker 15

Bradley Becker '15 is a first-year student at Moeller High School, where he is earning nearly all A's. Brad is active in the Engineering Club, and is hoping to join the Ski Club this winter. He is making great use of the organizational strategies he learned at Springer.  (10-23-15)

Wyatt Hotchkiss '15 is a freshman at New Richmond High School. Wyatt participates in choir, and is preparing to try out for The Troubadors, New Richmond's show choir.  (10-19-15)

2014

Olivia Matt '14 is a high school sophomore who has been studying Taekwondo for eight years. Olivia earned her first-degree black belt in May, 2015. She is employed at Cincinnati Taekwondo where she has been teaching children’s classes for two years. Olivia teaches Taekwondo at Springer through our After School Program. Through her study of Taekwondo, Olivia has gained much confidence, and the ability to speak before large groups of people. She plans to continue her study and teaching of Taekwondo, eventually to become a lead instructor. (4-27-16)

Mia Herbert

Mia Herbert '14 is an eighth grader at Turkeyfoot Middle School where she participates in the vocal jazz ensemble and the Energy Wise club. Mia enjoys horseback riding, and will attend Holy Cross High School next year.  (10-9-15) 

kylie bojack

Kylie Bojack '14 is a sixth grader at Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School. She plays hockey for the Cincinnati Swords, and has been playing hockey since she was three years old.  (10-16-14) 

Cameron Adams '14 is an ambassador for McNicholas High School, where he is doing very well in his freshman year.  (9-18-14)

Will Goderwis '14 was accepted to play for the Ryle Raiders freshman football team at Ryle High School. Will says, "Since the day I started, I am loving playing football. It has changed my life for the good!"  (9-18-14)  

2013

Kathleen Finn '13 is a senior at McNicholas High School where she has been on the honor roll each year. Kathleen was on the varsity tennis team for all four years, was selected in her senior year to be a Peer Mentor for incoming freshman, and during freshman and sophomore years acted as an Ambassador for the school. In addition to horseback riding, Kathleen volunteers once a week at Cincinnati Children's in their Sports Rehab program. In the fall, Kathleen will be attending the University of Arizona and plans to be a kindergarten teacher.   (4-5-17)

Joshua Bell '13 is graduating from Wyoming High School, where he was a varsity football player and Honor Roll student. He traveled over spring break to Marseilles and Rome with a group of students studying Latin. Joshua will attend Wittenberg University in the fall. He plans to study to be a special education teacher.   (4-4-17)

Johnny Schaller '13 will graduate in the spring of 2017 from Badin High School. He traveled last year to France and Spain with a group from school.  Johnny has been accepted at the University of Dayton, St. Louis University and Xavier University. He plans to study developmental psychology, and to eventually earn a Master’s degree and work in research.  (1-9-17)

Malakai Greenberg '13 is a senior at Mariemont High School where he is on the honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society. He has won several awards and contests for his artwork and poetry. Malakai has applied to attend art school at the University of Cincinnati's DAAP program and the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University. He hopes to work as a graphic designer after college.   (12-1-16)

Emily Finkenstead '13 is a junior at Holy Cross High School where she is a member of the track team.  (12-8-15) 

Allison Schoster '13 is a sophomore at Badin high school. She has been swimming for Badin and in the summer she was the 3rd fastest freestyler of 15-18 girls. She has made lots of friends and really enjoys Badin.  (10-8-14)

andrew rudy 14

Andrew Rudy '13 is in his sophomore year at McNicholas High School. Andrew serves as a school ambassador, and in other service opportunities. He is is his third year of competitive biking, and participates in mountain, cyclocross and road races.  (9-15-14) 

Alex Betz '13 is a senior at Moeller High School, where he has been on the honor roll for four years. Alex has taken honors and AP classes at Moeller, and has been active on the school's rugby team, diversity club and with LIFE (Living in Faith Experience). In the fall, Alex will be attending Ball State University to study landscape architecture.  (11-7-16)

2012

Devon McClea '12 is a 2012 graduate of Loveland High School.  Devon is a freshman at Wright State University, where he is studying Theatre Studies.  (2-23-17)

Emily Toles '12 graduated from Purcell Marian High School, receiving the school's highest senior award, in 2016. She currently attends Sinclair Community College, where she is studying to become a sign language interpreter.   (12-2-16)

chuck steines

Chuck Steines '12 is a sophomore at Summit Country Day School, where he is a forward on the soccer team. Chuck helped Summit's team win the State Championship this year. He also plays club soccer.  (1-28-16)

Christian Lach '12 is a senior at Purcell Marian High School. Next fall he plans to attend Cincinnati State University. He is considering careers as a dietician or a firefighter.   (12-18-15)

Drew Holland ’12 is a senior at Holy Cross High School, where he is active in drama. Drew is considering various options for college next year.  (12-18-15)

Jake Bambauer '12 is a freshman at Moeller High School where he plays football and serves as a student manager for the basketball team. Jake has made honors every quarter so far.  (12-16-15)

Marissa Vando '12 is a senior at Holy Cross High School where she is a cheerleader for football and basketball. She plans to study to become a physical therapist next year at Northern Kentucky University.  (12-8-15) 

mandy miller 15

Mandy Miller '12 is a senior at Holy Cross High School. She is a cheerleader for football and basketball, and will attend Cincinnati State next fall, where she will study early childhood education.  (12-8-15) 

ben meyers 15

Ben Meyers '12 is a high school sophomore at Yeshiva, a boarding school in St. Louis, Missouri. Ben remembers the good times and the amazing friends he made at Springer.  (11-12-15)

Ken Covey ’12 graduated from Holy Cross High School in Covington, Kentucky in 2016. In the fall, he will attend St. Leo University in St. Leo, Florida, where he will study mathematics.  (6-23-16)

Julia Palmer '12 graduated from Highlands Middle School in Fort Thomas, where she was on the honor roll.  She has been recommended for Advanced Placement classes in English next year when she begins high school.  (6-9-14)

2011

Tatiana Weedman '11 is a sophomore at Georgetown College in Kentucky, pursuing a Psychology degree with a minor in Art.  She hopes to work in art therapy. Tatiana is an accomplished equestrian, and founder/owner of Romanova Photography, a business she began while in high school.  She has won several photography awards and has had two photos accepted in a juried art show.   (5-3-17)

Mary Claire Fibbe '11 is a senior at Clark Montessori High School, where she is completing her senior project on overfishing. Mary Claire has been accepted at several colleges, and plans to study marine biology next fall.  (3-6-17)

Drew Lovell '11 graduated from Elder High School in 2015, and is currently attending the University of Cincinnati, where he is studying Health Education. Drew also plays UC Club Tennis.  (12-7-16)

Andrew Chaffin ’11 is in his first year at the University of Northwestern Ohio, where he is studying accounting and has been recognized on the Dean’s List. Andrew is attending Northwestern on a full scholarship for baseball.(12-18-15)

grady voss

Grady Voss '11 graduated from Cincinnati Country Day School in the spring, 2015.  He is now a freshman at the University of Mississippi, studying business finance.  (8-12-15)

Adam Dock '11 graduated from Sycamore High School with high honors. He has completed his freshman year at The Cleveland Institute of Art, where he is pursuing a career in Industrial Design.  Adam ranked in the top 25% of his class in his freshman year.  (5-31-16) 

Nicholas Midei '11 is currently a sophomore at Cincinnati La Salle High School where he received 1st honors, plays football and runs track, and is involved in an international group called Key Club. He is using strategies and tricks he learned at Springer to help him be very successful.  (3/4/13)

2010

Elana Younger '10 is in her third year at the University of Cincinnati. She recently applied and has been accepted, a year early at age 19, to multiple dental schools, and has accepted admission to a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) program at Nova Southeastern University.  Despite her difficulty with reading, Elana scored in the 99th percentile on the entire national exam on the DAT (Dental Admission Test), and she scored in the 99.8th percentile on the Reading Comprehension Test, which involves reading of medical texts.   (5-3-17)

Jeff Clippinger '10 is a graduate of Purcell Marian High School. He is currently a junior at Xavier University, where he is studying journalism. In a few weeks, Jeff will travel to Africa for a medical mission trip.  (3-7-17)

Samme Polanco '10 graduated from Turpin Hills High School in 2016. She is currently attending the University of Cincinnati, studying dental hygiene.   (11-30-16)

grace mancini

Grace Mancini '10 is a 2014 graduate of St. Ursula Academy and a junior at the University of Cincinnati where she is majoring in marketing. Grace works for the University Housing and RED, and did an internship as Alumni Liaison in the Development Department at Springer School and Center from December 2014 to July 2015. Grace is Financial Vice President of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, and will spend 10 days studying in France at the end of April, 2017.   (4-17-17) 

Adam Hofmann '10 graduated from Wyoming High School in 2014. Adam will attend the University of Cincinnati, where he will study Criminal Justice.  (6-13-14) 

Aaron Bloemer '10 graduated from La Salle High School in 2014 and will attend the College of Mount St. Joseph in the fall to study Health and Wellness. This summer he will spend a week in Kissimmee, Florida, volunteering with Give Kids the World, a camp for children with life-threatening illnesses. Aaron will also be volunteering at Camp Campbell Gard, assisting children with neuromuscular disorders, some of which are life-threatening, and he will work for the rest of the summer.  (6-6-14) 

tj kunkemoeller 14

T.J. Kunkemoeller '10 graduated from Milford High School in May, 2014. He plans to enter culinary school in the fall, and hopes to someday own his own restaurant. "Good, better, best.  Never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best!"  (5-22-14) 

 Tennessee Wallick '10 is a junior at Shorewood High School in Shorewood, Wisconsin. Tennessee enjoys playing all kinds of instruments with his friends in their rock band. His interest in music and sound overlaps with his heavy involvement in the High School theater. For the Shorewood theater program, Tennessee has learned to weld, helps with the deck crew, builds sets, is involved with sound design and production, and flight crew (lifting the actors up into the air over the stage). Last year he received the Spirit of Theater award from his faculty (for being there all the time and having a great attitude). Tennessee is hoping to go to school for theatrical sound engineering.   (12-8-16)

Joel Beard '10 will be a freshman at LaSalle High School in the fall of 2012. He is a second class Boy Scout, about to attain first class ranking, and has been chosen by the Boy Scouts to attend a one-week National Youth Leadership Training program this summer.  (3-14-12) 

Gregory Brugger '10 graduated from Loveland High School in 2014, and is currently a junior at Mount St. Joseph University where he is majoring in Sociology with a minor in Leadership and Civic Engagement. When Greg is not studying, he spends his time working on his new passion, photography.  (4-10-17)

cj elfers

CJ Elfers '10 is a Senior at Purcell Marian High School where he has played three years of baseball and one year of basketball. He has received honor roll each of his three years at Purcell. CJ is a Student Ambassador and is on Student Council. After this year, CJ plans to continue playing baseball at Miami University of Ohio or the University of Cincinnati, and study Criminal Justice, Education,  Sports Management, or Athletic Training. The strategies he learned in his time at Springer he has carried with him all throughout high school and plans to use them in college. CJ can not thank Springer enough into helping him become the man he is today.  (8-28-13)

2009

Ben Shurmer '09 is a 2015 graduate of Moeller High School and a sophomore at the Miami University Farmer School of Business where he is majoring in Marketing. This summer, Ben has an Internship at Colliers International Commercial Real Estate in Cincinnati.  (5-8-17)

Nick Spadaccini '09 is a Specialist assigned to C Company 1-30th Infantry Battallion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team in Fort Stewart, Georgia.  Nick recently participated in Operation Anaconda in Poland with 30,000 NATO troops.  It was the first time US troops have trained on former USSR soil. Nick is finishing his 3 ½ year commitment to the Army in August, and has re-enlisted for another year of service.  (5-3-17)

Evan LaMontagne '09 graduated from Mason High School in 2015. After a year of study at Miami University's Middletown campus, Evan is transferring to the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.  (8-5-16)

Natalie Heimbrock '09 graduated from Turpin High School in the spring of 2015, and is now attending the University of Kentucky. Natalie is pursuing a degree in dietetics.  (8-14-15) 

T. J. Veerkamp '09 graduated from Moeller High School in 2013, where he made the honor roll many times and participated in a summer mission trip which he loved. This fall, T.J. will begin his sophomore year at The College of Mount St. Joseph. He is considering a major in business, but is still undecided. T. J. keeps in touch with several friends from Springer, and still uses the strategies he learned there. "The strategies I learned while at Springer have been extremely helpful," he said, "and I am grateful for all those who made attending Springer possible."  (7-15-14)

Iona Shea

Ioana Shea '09 graduated from Purcell Marian High School in 2013.  She is completing the dental assisting program at Great Oaks this spring, and is certified in CPR and has earned a radiology license.  (5-16-14)

Josh Kuebbing '09 graduated Cum Laude from Campbell County High School in 2013. He received a $500 "runner-up" Anne Ford Scholarship, and a $10,000 scholarship from the University of Dayton, where he will study engineering.  (6-4-13)

Anna Kramig '09 graduated from Purcell Marian High School in 2013 and will attend Muskingum University in the fall.  (5-29-13)

Myra Khan '09 graduated from Indian Hill High School in 2013 and will attend Xavier University in the fall.  (5-29-13)

Daniel Dolzhansky '09 graduated from Moeller High School and is currently attending University of Cincinnati, where is enrolled in the Lindner College of Business. Daniel is pursuing a degree in business and is active in Greek life at UC.  (12-9-13)

Ben Kimmel '09 is an avid Eagle Scout, graduating from Butler Tech this spring. He will attend the Hamilton campus of Miami University in the fall.  (5-15-13)

Jessie Simmons '09 graduated from St. Ursula Academy in May. She played saxophone with the St. Ursula Symphony Orchestra and also volunteered as a tutor at the Academy of World Languages in Hyde Park. In the fall she will attend the University of Cincinnati, where she will major in social work.  (5-29-13)

Emily Orabella '09 was a Pride in Excellence winner this year at Sycamore Junior High. (08-09-10)

Helen Macmann '09 is a senior at the University of Cincinnati, studying Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).  Helen is currently applying to graduate schools, where she will pursue a Master’s degree in CSD, with the goal of working as a Speech and Language Pathologist, or possibly to pursue a Ph.D. in CSD or Audiology.  In addition to her studies, Helen works at two part-time jobs and volunteers weekly at the UC Child Development Center.  (5-3-17)

Tara Taylor '09 graduated from Turpin High School in May. Next fall, she will attend Muskingum College where she will study Early Childhood Education.  (5-29-13)

2008

Diamond Caulton '08 graduated from Sycamore High School in 2015, and has completed her freshman year at Mount St. Joseph University, where she is on the Dean's List. Diamond is studying clinical psychology and hopes to work with children and young adults.  (5-17-16)

david robertson

David Robertson '08 graduated from Lakota West High School in 2012. After high school, David participated in a two-year mission project with his church, serving the poor in Arizona. He is currently attending Brigham Young University where he is pursuing a degree in physics. After graduation he plans to earn a Master's degree in physics and find employment in research.  (8-17-15)

Bennett Szames '08 is a rising senior at the University of Hartford, studying Entrepreneurial Studies and minoring in Marketing. Bennett has been on the Dean's List every semester of his college career. He is the treasurer of his fraternity and very involved in several other clubs on campus. Aside from school, Bennett owns a business that he started after he graduated from Springer. His company, TopNotch Vintage, LLC, specializes in throwback headwear and apparel.  (6-28-16)

Kelly Grannen '08 will graduate from Purcell Marian High School this spring, having earned high honors every quarter. Kelly was awarded the Dean’s scholarship at the College of Mount St. Joseph, providing $50,000 toward tuition. She will major in special education. (1-19-12)

erin nordhill

Erin Nordhill '08 graduates from Weber High School in Ogden, Utah, this spring, having achieved the highest honor roll all four years. Erin was chosen to be an Academic All Utah State for swimming, and received a college scholarship from her high school. During her senior year, Erin earned a Certified Nurse Aide license. She'll be attending the Oregon Institute of Technology in the fall where she will study Respiration Therapy.  (05-15-13)

evan phillips

Evan Phillips '08 graduated from Elder High School in 2012. He has joined the Army, in an infantry division, and will begin basic training at Fort Benning, GA, in February, 2013.  After basic, he will continue his training to become an Army Ranger. Evan cites as his inspiration a grandfather who served during the Korean War. After his military service, he plans to attend the University of Cincinnati where he will study architecture. (10-9-12)

Colton MacKay '08 will graduate from McNicholas High School in 2012, in the top 20% of his class.  He is considering several colleges for further education. His interests are history, anthropology ad photography. (02-11-12)

2007

Aaron Ernst '07 graduated from Dater High School in 2011, and earned an Associate’s degree in Arts from Cincinnati State.  He works full time at the office of a Cincinnati endocrinologist, and is attending Miami University, where he is working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Technical Engineering. Aaron’s first child Lincoln was born in August and he and his fiancée are planning an October wedding.  (4-13-17)

carl pretorius

Carl Pretorius '07 studied psychology at the University of Dayton, and is currently in the psychology program at Cincinnati State. He plans to transfer to Ohio State University, where he will pursue a degree in environmental science. (10-10-13)

Savannah Trester '07 was recently accepted into the National Honor Society. Savannah is a senior at Live Oaks/Anderson High School, where she is studying cosmetology. She plans to earn a business degree in college, and to open her own hair salon which will focus on accommodating people with special needs.  (10-8-13)

Grace Stein '07 graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 2013 and will attend the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in the fall.  (5-29-13)

oscar defrancesco

Oscar DeFrancesco '07 graduated from Purcell Marian High School in 2011 and has just completed his freshman year at the Northern Kentucky University where he is studying archaeology and history.  (06-18-12)

Suzanne Bonem '07 graduated from Purcell Marian High School in 2011, and is now a freshman at the College of Mount St. Joseph, studying Early Childhood Education. Suzanne earned $42,000 in scholarships from Mount St. Joseph, and is a student ambassador for the Project Excel program.  (10-12-11)

George Koglmeier '07 graduated from Mariemont High School in 2013, where he received the Captain Tyler B. Swisher Award for demonstration of superior commitment and passion. The award is accompanied by a $1,000 scholarship. George will attend Virginia Tech, where he will major in International Studies, and has been accepted into the Corps of Cadets, a leadership building program. He recently completed requirements to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout project, George designed and built a serenity garden on Springer's campus - a place for students to go for quiet time. A raised platform with a bench for sitting was constructed and put in place, along with landscaping around the area of the garden. (5-30-13)

Nick Lefke '07 has graduated with four years of honors from Moeller High School, where he was awarded The Blessed Father Chaminade Service Award for service to his school, church and community. Nick will be attending The College of Mount Saint Joseph in the fall. He has received the Challenge Award and Academic Achievement Award from Mount Saint Joseph, the Robert A. Cunningham Award from the GE Credit Union and the Kopcial Young Entrepreneur Award from the National Federation of Independent Business. (07-07-11)

Cory Hurst '07 graduated from Purcell Marian High School in 2011. He is currently attending Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, where he is studying graphic design technology. (02-11-12)

Luc Betz '07 graduated in 2011 from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he received the President's Award for Academic Excellence. He will attend Western Michigan University, majoring in Aeronautical Engineering. (07-07-11)

2006

Gabriela Guenthner '06 graduated from The Brighton Center this year, and passed board tests to become a Registered Medical Assistant.  She has just accepted a job in heart and vascular general surgery at St. Elizabeth Hospital.   (11-30-16)

Megan Northway '06 graduated in 2014 from the College of Mount St. Joseph with a BFA in Fine Arts with a Concentration in Ceramics, and a BA in Art History.  (5-10-14)

Will Fritz '06 graduated from Cincinnati Country Day School in 2011 and is currently a junior at Vanderbilt University where he played football for two years. Will is studying Human Organizational Development and Corporate Strategy, and hopes to work in the nonprofit sector after graduation.  (11/11/13)

Larson Robinson '06 graduated from Summit Country Day School in 2013.  Next year he will study business at DePaul University.  (5-29-13)

Andrew Turnbull '06 is currently a freshman at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, majoring in Creative Writing and Technical Theater.  (1-25-13)

Seth Davis '06 graduated from Taylor High School in 2012, where he was on the honor roll and participated in swimming, choir, track and drama. Seth has completed training in fire science, and is currently employed as a fireman and EMT at Miami Whitewater.  (7-6-15)

Natalie Smith '06 graduated from St. Ursula Academy and will be attending the University of Cincinnati in the fall.  Natalie received a scholarship to play soccer for U.C.  (5-24-12)

rebecca north

Rebecca North '06 will graduate from Madeira High School/Scarlett Oaks with her LPN and her High School Diploma. She will graduate as a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Rebecca will attend Otterbein University in the fall, majoring in nursing and riding on the Equestrian Team. She has been awarded the Madeira Women's Club Scholarship and Otterbein scholarships totaling nearly $30,00.00 per year!  (04-25-12)

griffin fuller

Griffin Fuller '06 graduated from Mariemont High School in May. From his start on Springer's climbing wall in second grade, Griffin has become a competitive rock climber who is ranked among the top ten in the nation in his age group. Griffin has climbed in Red River Gorge, Kentucky, and in Colorado and Utah. In the fall, he will attend Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, where he will enter the firefighter program.  (5-29-13)

Alan Kleesattel '06 graduated in the top 10% of his class at The School for Creative and Performing Arts, earning a 3.8 GPA. He was offered academic as well as talent scholarships at every college where he applied. Alan is currently a lighting design and technology major at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Shawn Gillispie '06 graduated from LaSalle High School in 2010. He has completed certification to become a fire fighter, and is nearing completion of EMT certification, after which he will begin seeking employment. (03-04-11)

Chloe Iliff '06 and Megan Northway'06 celebrated their high school graduation this June. Chloe began her studies in Early Childhood Education at Diamond Oaks and plans to continue in Cincinnati State's program this fall. Megan is looking forward to working on an art major at the College of Mt. St. Joseph. (08-09-10)

martin hollatz

Martin Hollatz '06 is currently attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. He is studying aeronautical science at "the 'Harvard' of aviation schools," and is flying in acrobatic plane competitions. Martin hopes to one day work as an airline or corporate pilot. (02-01-11)

Matthew Froese '06 is a 2010 Oak Hills High School grad. Matthew will be starting the Veterinary Technology program at Diamond Oaks Vocational School in the fall. (08-09-10)

2005

Katy Zembrodt '05 attends Northern Kentucky University, where she ran track for two years. Katy joined the Army National Guard in 2016, and will graduate from NKU in the fall of 2017 with a degree in Exercise Science. During Army basic training and subsequent individual training, Katy received a number of awards leading to the honor of receiving the Challenge Coin from the Adjutant General of the Kentucky National Guard. Ben Sweeney '05 plays acoustic and electric guitar for the bands Natural Progression and Joe's Truck Stop in Cincinnati. He graduated from the School for Creative and Performing Arts where he studied jazz and was a Corbett Award finalist. Ben studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and currently works for Canopy Crew, a company that builds tree houses and provides tree services and care. malcolm harris

Malcolm Harris '05 attended Purcell Marian High School for two years, where he acted in all the school plays. Last year he homeschooled and also participated in a wilderness semester with Kroka Expeditions in New England. He and his classmates cross-country skied the length of Vermont - 300 miles - and then helped build a canoe and paddled the Connecticut River - another 300 miles - camping all the way. They prepared all their own food, and made a lot of their equipment as well - hats, basket backpacks, knives - and did a fair amount of community service and academic work to boot. Malcolm will attend another semester with Kroka this fall, during which he will bike, raft and mountain-climb in Ecuador. He'll then return to Cincinnati for the spring semester to finish high school with Leaves of Learning and Cincinnati State, and to apply to colleges. (8-2-12)

Evan Groneman '05 had a wonderful high school experience at Sycamore High School! His mom writes, "that would never have been possible without the care and expertise that the Springer staff provided him." Evan graduated from Sycamore in May 2009. Francisco Michels '05 received the 2009 Award of Courage from The Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the National Football Foundation. Francisco has been a member of the Holy Cross football team since his freshman year and as his coach reflected in nominating him, Francisco has been an inspiration to the team through his personal determination and the support he gave his team members. Earlier in the year, Francisco received the Holy Cross Spirit Award. He will graduate this spring and has been accepted to Thomas More College. (03-03-09)

Leo Bible '05 recently earned his Eagle Scout Award. Leo's project was to make and install trail markers for hiking trails in Burnet Woods. Ava Chaney '05 graduated from Clark Montessori High School in 2011 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2015 at Ohio University.  She is currently a development intern for Planned Parenthood, and works at Kaze Restaurant in Over-the-Rhine.  Ava plans to return to school in the fall, attending Cincinnati State to study Graphic Design.  (5-3-17)

Marc Banks '04 earned his BA degree is Public Relations from Northern Kentucky University in 2014, and moved to Washington, D.C., for an internship in the press office of New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Marc then joined the marketing and communications team at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, where he is currently the Public Relations Specialist. Alexis (Mikki) Martin '04 graduated from Purcell Marian High School with Honors and perfect attendance.  She graduated from Wright State University with a 3.25 GPA in Liberal Studies.  She was certified as a Notary Public and began working for a law firm in Blue Ash. Daniel hopes to receive his second Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis in the spring of 2018. This fall, he will join Springer’s staff in the position of IEP Liaison. Adam Isaacs '01 graduated from Scott High School is 2008 and currently attends the University of Louisville. Adam has been a competitive swimmer since elementary school and also loves singing and the performing arts. He continues his swimming with the University of Louisville, and has set a goal of qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in 2012. Adam had many challenging academic classes in high school, including many honor classes. He has won and been recognized with many awards/honors in the three areas of academics, swimming, and the performing arts; including the Kenton County Board of Education's "Champion of Learning" (4.0 or higher GPA), two-time High School Swimming All American, and two-time Kentucky Music Teachers Association Singing Competition winner, to name a few. Rosalyn Johnson '01 is a doctorate level practitioner and Licensed Mental Health Counselor, as well as a Clinical Supervisor and the Coordinator for Outpatient Services and Suicide Prevention at a large non-profit organization in Miami, Florida. Currently, Rosalyn oversees and provides total management of the clinical functions of the infant mental health, child/adolescent mental health and substance abuse programs, as well as the adult and geriatric mental health and substance abuse programs within the Outpatient Services department.

Rosalyn provides leadership, administrative, and clinical supervision to a team of clinical staff, which consists of several LCSWs, LMHCs, a LMFT, two unlicensed therapists, and a licensed Clinical Psychologist. She is also an Adjunct Professor of Counseling Psychology and a Qualified Supervisor with the Florida Department of Health, and provides clinical supervision to Registered Interns (unlicensed therapists working on pursuing their state licensure) with the Florida Board. Rosalyn is the site supervisor for Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's students at Florida International University (FIU) completing their practicum and internship at the health center, under her clinical supervision, and she manages two grant funded programs, including the Suicide Prevention program.  (5-22-17)

Tim Bigner '99 and Jane Tenoever were married May 31, 2014 in an outside ceremony at Nathaneal Green Lodge in Green Township, with a reception following. Several Springer alumni were in attendance: Stephen Harten '99 (Groomsman) and Caroline Feldhaus '00. Tim and Jane honeymooned in Jamaica. They live in Bridgetown with a dog, Abby and a cat, Belle. Tim is Construction Supervisor for Bigner Construction, and Jane is a Store Team Leader for Joann Fabrics.  (6-11-14)

Sam Wilson '99 received his Bachelor in Journalism, with an area of focus in sports writing from the University of Missouri. He wrote for school newspapers as well as the Columbia Missourian and had an internship with the sports department of the Savannah Morning News. Michael Niehaus '99 participated in a Dick Vitale imitation contest sponsored by ESPN this past spring and made the final round, which entitled him to an all-expense paid trip to New York. Erin Katherine Knecht Munir '98 resides in Hallandale Beach, Florida, with her husband Mazhar Munir and their calico Ms. Audrey Hepburn. On Friday, November 29, 2013, Erin wed Mazhar in an Islamic Nikkah (wedding) ceremony in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Erin is in her final year of Graduate school at Florida Atlantic University. She will obtain a degree and license in Exceptional Student Education with a Gifted and Talented endorsement in the summer of 2015. Upon graduating with her Masters in Education, Erin's dream is to teach in a Resource Room setting at the high school level.  In her spare time Erin enjoys going to the beach and reading memiors, volunteering with the Sierra Club of Miami, Florida, and traveling with her husband to see extended family members that live in Charleston, South Carolina and across the pond in London, England!  (08-14-14)

She has worked as an image designer for a high end women's clothing line, mentored children with learning disabilities for an organization known as Project Eye to Eye, and worked as an art teacher and first grade instructional paraprofessional. Catherine is now pursuing a dual Master's program in Elementary and Special Education at Manhattanville College, and is working as a Special Education Kindergarten teacher in the New York City Public Schools.  (10-9-13)

Beyond her studio practice, Emily designs and manages an artist resource website, and works as an art handler/preparator and registrarial assistant in Chicago. Andrew Farnham '96 graduated from Maine Maritime Academy in 2008, and has since worked for Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG). He is currently serving as Chief Mate on a vessel that carries refined oil products, mainly in the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River. He has recently passed the Captain's examination, and has been promoted to the rank of Captain. In April, 2014, Andrew married Kara Habel in a ceremony at St. Ursula Academy. Mike Wright '96 attended Purcell Marian High School following his graduation from Springer. He then spent one semester at Ashland University playing Division II football, before transferring to the University of Cincinnati to play Division I football. He was named Cincinnati's "newcomer of the year" for defense in 2003. After two successful seasons with the Bearcats, Mike graduated from UC with a major in Criminal Justice. He played football for the NFL's New England Patriots from 2005 to 2012. Mike was the featured speaker at Springer's annual event A Springer Celebration! in 2015, and has visited the school several times since, leading The Mike Wright Challenge, which encourages our students to establish habits of physical fitness.  He lives in Cincinnati with his wife and two children.  (12-1-16)

Vallie Geier '95 graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. in 2009, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. At Georgetown, Vallie was involved in a variety of extracurricular activities and especially enjoyed working with the teens in the after-school program at the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Clinic in D.C. This year, she has a fellowship at the Center for Social and Emotional Education in NYC. At CSEE, she works on a wide range of projects including resource development and working with school leaders on the school climate improvement process. Vallie is passionate about child development and plans to attend graduate school to become either a school psychologist or child life specialist. (04-13-10)

Jordan Werwa '94 earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Bowling Green University and another in linguistics from Ohio State University. He received certification in English as a Second Language from Cambridge University in England, and has been accepted for a Master's program in ESL at Columbia University in New York City. Blake Dowlin '94 graduated from Wright State University with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in management.  He has interned with Senator Rob Portman in Washington, D.C., and worked for Jeanne Schmidt in Cincinnati.  Blake has nearly completed a master's program in special education at Xavier University, was recently married, and is currently employed at Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries.  (12-09-14)

Jonah Weiss '94 earned a BFA with a major in photography at Washington University in St. Louis. After undergraduate school, he received a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia. Jonah is employed as a landscape designer in Denver, Colorado. Rosie Herman Trahey '93 attended Vincennes University and Indiana State University. She is currently the stay-at-home mom of two boys, aged 4 and 7. J. Garrett Chunn '93 graduated from Mariemont High School in 2000 and earned a BS in Business Finance/Economics from the University of Dayton in 2004. He did some graduate work in Pre-medical Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati, and began a Doctorate in Medicine at A.T. Still University before deciding to pursue a different career path. Michael Slack '93 attended Ohio State University, graduating in 2005 with a BS in Horticulture. He is also a Licensed Chemical Applicator/Fertilizer, Pesticides. Michael worked at Murfield Village Golf Club while at Ohio State. Through contacts at Murfield, he was hired as Assistant Superintendent at Card Sound Country Club at Ocean Reef-Key Largo, Florida. While there, Mike had the opportunity to work as part of the Professional Ground Crews at two to three PGA Tournaments per year, including the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in 2007. Pamela (Rockenfield) Ashmore '93 received her Masters in Art Education from the DAAP program at the University of Cincinnati in 2007. Michael Kamphake '92 attended Moeller High School and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Sociology in 2001. In 2003, he graduated from the Firefighter Academy of Lexington, KY. He is currently a firefighter assigned to Station #1 in Lexington. Michael is also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. Gretchen Langenderfer Meiser '92 graduated from Summit Country Day School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood/Sociology from Muskingum University in 2000. She received the Springer Outstanding Achiever Award in 2000 and recently graduated from Brown Mackie College with an Associate's degree in Medical Assisting. Gretchen was on the honor roll in high school, the Dean's List at Muskingum and was on the President's List and in the Honor Society at Brown Mackie. Mimi Cooper Gerwin '91 has been working with The Children's Home of Cincinnati for nine years. She has worked in the mental health field, doing Community Support with children, has supervised three after-school sites and is currently teaching in the Upper School. Megan Heekin Triantafillou ‘91 received her BA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 2001, and within 2 years of graduation she was exhibiting her work at the Hyde Park Art Show. She currently paints from her studio at the Essex Studios in Mt. Auburn where she shares a studio with two other working artists. Her paintings are abstract, nonobjective representations of aspects relating to nature and spirituality. In 2006 she exhibited at the New York Art Expo, and she was honored at Art Comes Alive 2007. She has worked as Design Director of the Carters/Osh Kosh Baby division, and has designed apparel for such companies as Ralph Lauren, Boston Proper, Federated/May Company, Limited Brands and Abercrombie and Fitch. Christine Glaubitz '81 has earned a BA in History from Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana, and a MEd in Adult and Higher Education from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. She has lived and worked in China and Australia, and is currently living in Bremen, Germany, where she is building her language skills. Her last position was Student Services Manager for Curtin University in Sydney, Australia, and she hopes to work with students again in her next position.  (3-25-13)

Rafe Brown, PhD '80 is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and Curator-in-Charge in the Herpetology Division at the University of Kansas. He works on evolutionary processes of diversification, biogeography, and conservation of amphibians and reptiles in island the archipelagos of Southeast Asia and the Pacific, and in December of 2012 was honored by the Filipino government for his discovery of 54 new species of reptiles and amphibians in the Philippines. John Crissman '78 is the author of the children's book The Sassafras Cats of Izumba. He holds a bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University, and has worked in financial services and pharmaceutical sales, and taught English for a year in Prague. He is currently a Hearing Specialist for Miracle Ear, and he plans to continue writing children's books. John was Visiting Author at Springer in November, 2015.  (12-2-15)

Casey Boland '77 earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati and is currently a Vice President and Wealth Advisor at Hengehold Capital Management LLC. Casey hosts a weekly radio program on 700 WLW radio in which he discusses money matters, and was the featured speaker and Chair of Springer's annual event A Springer Celebration! in 2014. Casey has served on Springer's Board of Trustees since 2012.   (12-1-16)

Anna Cucinotta '75 graduated from Indian Hill High School in 1986. She continued her education at Southern Ohio College (Brown Mackie College) where she graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Information Systems in 1989. With her 40th birthday approaching, she decided to go back to college and finish her long time goal. On August 8, 2008, Anna graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems. She is currently a Solution Architect for Cerner Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri, and lives in Cincinnati.
